Install on Android
Six steps, about two minutes.
Until Movu is on Google Play you install it like any other APK. Android shows one extra permission screen the first time; here is exactly what to tap.
Download the APK
Tap Download for Android on this page. The file is about 56 MB, so Wi-Fi is best. Chrome may ask you to confirm the download; tap Download.
Open the file
Pull down your notifications and tap the finished download, or open Files and look in Downloads for movu.apk.
Allow installs from this source
The first time, Android asks you to allow installs from Chrome (or Files). Tap Settings, switch Allow from this source on, then go back and tap Install.
Open Movu
Tap Open when the install finishes. Sign in with your phone number and the one-time code we SMS you, or continue with Google.
Request a vehicle
Set your pickup and drop-off on the map, choose a vehicle type, see the price and slide to request. Pick a driver from those who accept.
Driving with Movu?
Open the menu and switch to Driver mode. Complete the verification wizard, top up your balance with EcoCash and go online.
Is a direct download safe? Yes. This APK is built and signed by Movu and hosted on Expo, the build service we use. Only download Movu from this page or from the short link movu.co.zw/android. If Play Protect asks to scan the app, let it. Trouble installing? Email [email protected].
One app, both sides
The customer side and the driver side live in the same app.

Under the hood
- Requests are offered to every verified driver nearby, not only one vehicle type.
- Arrival at the pickup is recorded by a GPS geofence, so drivers tap less.
- Live location, chat and status updates travel over a persistent socket connection.
- Push notifications keep both sides informed when the app is in the background.
- The driver side switches to a dark theme at night automatically.
